ALAN D ACADEMY LAUNCHES NVQ LEVEL 3 COURSE
ALAN D With nearly 200 models per week being looked after at the Alan d Academy in Central London, many at a vastly reduced price or free, Director of Education and Creative Director Edward Hemmings, decided to ask for donations to HABB.
Edward commented “we see it as an ideal opportunity to raise money for a charity that is close to our hearts. 2 years ago HABB helped my father Alan’s best and oldest friend, a lady that had spent some 45 years in the industry when she was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. It puts a value on the haircut/colour and most clients are happy to donate, however small. With a number of homeless shelters nearby it is amazing that the homeless seem to be the most generous givers!!”
Every model is asked to make a donation and although some don’t, many do. “Most of the models are really receptive to a non-denominational, non-political charity, “In the first month we raised approximately £250 and Directors Alan Hemmings and David Wada decided to double the donation!”
“We really believe in this charity that seems to have been forgotten by our industry. In troubled times, it can help each and everyone of us as hairdressers and does some fantastic work.
