| The Alternative Hair Show was launched in 1983 by Tony Rizzo in order to help raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research following the sad death of his son Valentino. At the time, leukaemia was still a poorly understood cancer that affected both children and adults often with tragic consequences. Following his personal tragedy, Tony was eager to do something in honour of Valentino to help Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research in their quest to find better treatments and a cure for leukaemia and related blood cancers and disorders. Alternative Hair Show has grown into the world’s most prestigious annual hairdressing event hosting leading teams and inspirational hair artists from all over the globe. In doing so, the Alternative Hair Show has raised an astonishing over £8,5 million for research and the annual event continues to be a key resource in helping Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research meet its fundraising targets. While Alternative Hair is an outstanding success for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research the need for funds to help combat blood cancers is unrelenting. The money we have raised for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has already had a huge impact: 80% of children now survive the most common form of leukaemia. |
