The 2021 Virtual Alternative Hair Show, held on the 9th and 10th October, was a dazzling success, watched by an audience spanning every corner of the globe.
Alternative Hair Founder, Tony Rizzo and Worldwide President, Anthony Mascolo, presented the two-day event from the grounds of a quintessential English country house, blending traditional design with futuristic concepts.
Certainly, the Show lost nothing of its pzazz and creativity in its virtual format, indeed, the participating artistic teams, took their creativity to an ever-higher level showing the international audience incredible levels of both imagination and technical skill.
Day one was dedicated to the Visionary Award Finals, now so popular it was felt it warranted its own show time and a first was the New Visionaries Video Show, giving past finalists and winners of the Visionary Award the opportunity to create their own, amazing show.
On Sunday the Alternative Hair Show was packed with outstanding presentations, translating this year’s theme: ILLUMINARE
Each year the support and devotion given by the fantastic hairdressing teams is both inspiring and humbling. We are living in complicated and difficult times, yet these amazing teams ‘pulled out all the stops’ to create entertaining, high quality presentations showing their finest work. In fact, there were no limitations to their artistry and the audience watching Live were treated to an extraordinary experience.
SHOW RUNNING ORDER
Brothers Riccardo and Anthony Altieri are contemporary hair artists whose rare talents
have inspired millions of hairdressers worldwide.The energetic pair has lit up the hair styling universe with a torrent of achievements that are still going strong today.
What defines the brothers is that they come from a tight knit Italian / American family and were raised in Southern California. Inspired by their parents and younger brother
to go into hairdressing they are passionate artists who have dedicated their careers to uplifting the profession.
When we began working on this project we tried to find a common understanding of who in our eyes is a woman – a crystal, a radiant figure, beautiful and fragile, delicate, but dynamic. We’ve tried to render our imaginations into a picture, capture them in motion. Our costumes were created via combining metal mosaics, hand-placed on subtle nettings. Our models wear chiffon clothes, formed into a texture of crystal, transparent forms. Stylizations are ephemeral and radiant.
Creating show presentations is our passion which we can fulfill together with AHS during this year’s creative concept “Illuminaire”, while performing along with world class stylists. Working on this project is our way of putting our two cents in for the AHS charitable foundation “Fighting Leukaemia” in these troubled times of Covid-19 pandemic, which are tough for everyone, and especially for those suffering from blood cancer.
Charlie Price is one of the most recognizable faces in the North American salon industry. His performances as a popular platform artist and educator are filled with smart soundbites, useful information and quick easy techniques for the salon, all delivered in his fun irreverent style. Charlie has had his photo work published world wide and has collaborated with Haircare manufacturers such as Aveda, Revlon Professional, TIGI, Roux, Rusk and Scruples Haircare. Price is also known for having won many industry awards.
Carlo Bay an artist’s portrait who combines image, style and ability to plan. Carlo Bay is a renowned Italian hairstylist with a long career behind him and a succession of triumphant and positive experiences. His career started in 1985 and today he has more than 30 Salons in Italy and all over the world. In 1990, Carlo Bay opened the Florence Academy: a school to give all hairstylists an opportunity to train at every level. For many years Carlo Bay Salons have served a lot of
very important names from the Italian Fashion Brands such as: Roberto Cavalli, Gucci,
Ferragamo, Ermanno Scervino and many others.
Rudy Mostarda, Creative Styling Director Wella Professionals and International
Creative Director Extrema Hair is one of the most important and required hair stylists at an international level with a unique, innovative and constantly evolving style. Tailoring is the key word to create a unique image and identity. Knowing to experiment, Experiment to create, Broadcast to innovate.
Gogen was born 27 years ago from an innovative idea by Alessandro Abei dictated by the passion for the world of hair fashion. A few years later, the love and talent of those who will become the Artistic Directors at the international level Jerry Del Duca and Marco Lamberti join this fantastic adventure. The picture will be complete with the arrival of Gina Rossi, Art Director Colorist Gogen! This is where our dream called Gogen comes to life!
László Hajas is Hungary’s most outstanding and well-known hairdresser. The hair stylist
of large-scale TV programmes and shows. Four hair salons and shops bear his name. He has been the president of the Hungarian Hairdresser’s Association for over 20 years. He is the Hairdressing expert of the WorldSkills and EuroSkills competitions. In 2000, at the invitation of Tony Rizzo, he was the first Eastern European to participate at the Alternative Hair Show. As the Ambassador of L’Oréal Hungary, he is honoured ever since to be able to perform on the same stage with the world’s exceptional great hairdressers.
KenZhou Creative Team led by Principal Jessca Wang, is a highly creative,
talented and passionate team who appear on local and international stages,
presenting their creative inspirations in the most fashionable and visually stunning
ways. Kenzhou – a contemporary Chinese hairdressing education brand with
emphasis on professional skills and performing talents.

One such glimpse of his impeccable skill and artistic ingenuity was given to audiences during his debut at the Alternative Hair Show in 2011. The following year he presented his interpretation of the Alternative Hair Show’s 30th Anniversary theme ‘Legends’, .
Mikel Luzea is undoubtedly one of the most recognised International Spanish
hairdressers, founder of the Spanish Hairdressing Awards and the International Hairdressing Awards. His Editorial collections are prominent in professional magazines around the world. Mikel has two AIPP awards and has participated in the Alternative Hair Show eight times.

Sanrizz is a family business and the founding members of the Alternative Hair Show and Tony Rizzo has been dedicated and committed to fighting leukaemia through bringing an entire industry together, to showcase and celebrate the beauty and artistry of hair on a global scale. ‘Blue Sky’ is the title of our presentation this year and it comes from the place of optimism celebrating natural beauty in all shapes, forms, genders and backgrounds. We want to show that from the dark storm we have all been in there is still hope, that a blue sky will come and we look forward to a better day.

Hair, Love, Identity! Is the owner of Stevo salon & academy in Ljubljana. With his team of hairdressers, he performs at hairdressing seminars and shows and educates hairdressers. He has performed at Coiffure Swiss, Top Hair international in Dueseldorf, Keune 90 years in Amsterdam, Hair Days Graz, Hairstyle News in Zagreb, Belgrade Gathairing show, Slovenian Hair Festival… Stevo is an international Keune Haircosmetics and Denman hairbrush ambassador. He is performing at the Alternative Hair Show for the 6th time this year. It is a great honour for him to be able to perform together with the world’s hairdressing elite, and to help children fight leukaemia.

The TIGI International Creative Team is a close group of like-minded individuals each with their own skills and interests, but with a common goal to progress the work they do,
continually redefining their own skills to grow creatively. We are delighted to be part of the second virtual AHS.
Vinokurov Studio was founded in 1998. The founder of the brand, Dmitry Vinokurov, having gathered from the very beginning a team of the most powerful level of masters, made a decision and 4 years ago and launched the project – academy VINOKUROV & FRIENDS. From that moment to this day, the Academy charges tens of thousands of stylists around the world with its crazy creativity, master classes and staged show performances. This time, as in the past 12 it will be a great honour for Dmitry and his team to take part in AHS and make, together with colleagues and friends from all over the world, the right contribution to the healthy future of young children.
