Melissa Timperley, from Sassoon Salon, Manchester receives the ‘Umberto Giannini Project X Student of the Year’ award.

Talented Melissa Timperley, from Sassoon Salon, Manchester received the ‘Umberto Giannini Project X Student of the Year’award at the recent Fellowship for British Hairdressing Luncheon Awards held at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London on Monday 1st December 2014.

PROJECT X is a year-long education course masterminded by ‘The Fellowship’ and renowned as hairdressing’s ultimate finishing school. It gives young talent an extraordinary year of mentoring, alongside industry greats who specialise in cutting, colouring, stage skills, session styling, presentation skills, branding and much more.

Melissa was assessed over 12 months in presentation skills, styling talent, creativity, time keeping and team work. “My year on Project X has been totally incredible. Both inspirational and educational, it has introduced me to a whole new side of our wonderful industry. I have learnt everything from session styling to working on a photo shoot and even how to present myself on stage. Working with some of the biggest names in the industry and like-minded creative people has been a fantastic, a truly life-changing experience that I will cherish forever,” says Melissa.

Debbie G, Project Leader of Project X 2014 says, “I along with all the masters who taught on this year’s course were impressed with Melissa’s enthusiasm. Her outstanding research and practice of the skills she experienced has helped Melissa grow as a young talent in our industry. A true credit to her Sassoon family and a well-deserved award”.
